Our Practice Group
The Boundless Way Zen DownEast Sangha meets Tuesday evenings at the Downeast Massage Therapy building at 848 U.S. Rte 1, Pembroke, Maine, May to November. Meetings always include Zen meditation (zazen) and Zen liturgy. You are invited to attend all or any portion of the activities—whatever works for your schedule and inclination. We sit 25-minute periods, and do a few minutes of walking meditation (kinhin) between periods. The sitting starts formally at 6:30 pm and ends at 7:30 pm, though you are free to leave at any time. We also offer drop-in classes on the writings of Zen Master Eihei Dogen from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm which you are warmly invited to join at any time. If you are new to Zen, please arrive fifteen minutes early for a brief orientation. An introductory book some have found helpful is John Daishin Buksbazen’s, Zen Meditation in Plain English.
Winter hours, from November to May, the sangha meets via phone conference, studying chosen works by Zen Master Dogen, Wednesday evenings 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Contact Diane Fitzgerald at firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to join.
